Karen Jordan
Starboard Suite #1, Horizon
2003
Pigment print
Edition of 25
29 7/8 x 20 inches
Collection: Atlas Foundation

Harrison Gallery

Over the last decade-and-a-half, KAREN JORDAN has developed an original approach to the photographic medium as an art form. Featured in a prominent historian’s forthcoming book on the history of color photography,  her dramatic, abstract landscapes sometime appear painted, rather than photographed, yet the image is exactly as it existed in nature. Her water images celebrate nature’s endless elegance and beauty. "Horizon" is an unmanipulated, full frame/ uncropped photograph of the starboard side of a boat with the reflections from the water on the hull of the boat, along with the slightly rusted hull surface and the ocean-blue boat striping,  creating  the 'horizon' effect.
