New Concepts in Sculpture & Painting
- Additional Information -

Opening December 7th, 2002 at Anita Shapolsky Gallery is "New Concepts," a show of paintings and sculpture by artists from the Gallery’s stable of younger artists.  These artists have been establishing themselves in the New York and International art world for some time and have been producing consistent output for years.  They are diverse in their approach to modern art, but are very much in the tradition of the Anita Shapolsky Gallery.

The show will feature works by Donald Groscost, who paints pieces that bring to mind the more abstract textural and squeegee pieces of Gerhard Richter.  There are the geometric abstractions of Gavin Zeigler and the emotive sculptural constructions of Morfy Gikas, and the small gesture color fields of Rufus Zogbaum.  Andy Moses submits his ethereal, cosmic abstractions, while Martee Levi adds jazzier abstract landscapes.  Carol Hunt reveals dense gesture work, and Margaret Evangeline shows some of her intense color storms.  We are also excited to include Leya Evelyn’s saturated colorful paintings, Nancy Steinson’s contemporary sculptural pieces, and the modern surrealist visions of Amy Ernst, as well as the organic sculptural works of Thomas Beckman.

Gallery Hours: Wed Sat: 11-6pm, Tues: by appointment only.
