- Additional Information -

The Blue Mountain Gallery is pleased to present "On the Edge," a solo exhibition of drawings and paintings by Carol Heft.

An innovative sense of design and adventurous approach to materials make this Carol Heft s most interesting exhibition to date. Her asymmetrical compositions are interdependent with her personal iconography. The work glows, moves, and beckons the imagination. Heft demonstrates her versatility with a wide range of playful color relationships, scale and transcendent use of two dimensional space. Included in the show are a several compelling figure studies that create an interesting dialogue between the traditional and non-traditional elements in the artist's work.

The exhibition will take place from January 28th through February 22, 2003. The opening reception will be held on Thursday, January 30th from 5-8 PM. There will be jazz concert performed by the Bill Warfield Quintet at the gallery from 5:30-7:30 on Thursday, February 20, that will be open to the public and the College Art Association during the CAA Conference as a special event. The Blue Mountain Gallery is located at 530 West 25th Street, 4th Floor. The gallery hours are Tuesday through Sunday from 12 to 6 PM.

Carol Heft is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, and has lived and worked in New York since 1976. She teaches drawing, painting, art appreciation and art history at Muhlenberg College, Cedar Crest College, and Moravian College in Eastern Pennsylvania, and works with New York City public school students as a teaching artist and mentor with Arts Connection and Studio in a School.
