Inside Outside
- Additional Information -

The works of these artists, each possessing its own form, attitude, and value, display a new perspective that is based in the traditional form and at the same time detached from it. American artists also attempt to grasp the spirit of Chinese calligraphic art, which is regarded as the most elegant and sophisticated form among the literati. Without knowing the meaning of the Chinese characters, they simply start with the line, structure, and rhythm in order to experience and capture the energy and musicality in their practices. Their style is modern and western, but the expresssion and humor which emerges vividly from thier pieces is surprisingly traditional.

"To be a sage is to perceive emblems in nature and unite them; to be a cultivated man is to behold clearly the form and feel of things..."
